Clinical Consultation

The right questions. From the right people.

Every question in your free Clinical Consultation was developed by our clinical leadership: occupational therapist Lily Baiser, MS, OTR/L, and neuropsychologist Jill Gitten Aloia, PhD, ABPP-CN.

Five sections about your child, your family, and your home, so the guidance we build for you actually fits—and actually sticks.

Section 2A · Sensory · 4 of 11Rating scale

How sensitive is Maddox to clothing textures, grooming (hair, nails), or messy play?

Why we askEvery child takes in the world a little differently. Knowing how your child experiences touch helps us build strategies that work with their wiring, not against it.

Real consultation question. Maddox is an example child.

How it works

Five sections. One clear picture of your family.

Each section builds on the one before it. As you go, Dawn shares what she's learned and why it matters.

1

Section 1 · The Basics

Getting to know your family

Your name, then a few quick basics about your child: age, pronouns, any diagnoses or suspected diagnoses, and how they communicate. These answers shape the rest of the consultation.

8 questions · About 2 minutes

Quick basics

What is Maddox's date of birth?

Why we askWe'll use this to build age- and developmentally-accurate guidance and resources made for you.
Privacy built inAdd the nicknames you use at home. Dawn sounds like family, and your child's real name stays private from outside AI services.
2

Section 2 · Your child's skills

Learning about your child

How your child takes in the world, works through challenges, and connects with others. Three short parts:

2ASensory world: sound, touch, movement and body signals11 q · 2 min
2BExecutive function: focus, flexibility, memory and follow-through12 q · 3 min
2CSocial, learning and interests: friends, school and what lights them up6 q · 2 min
Multiple choice

When Maddox is given a few steps to follow, how does he manage?

For example, "put on your shoes, grab your bag, and wait by the door."

Remembers and follows through without remindersGets through some steps — needs occasional reminders✓ Remembers one step — loses track of the rest
Dawn's summaryWhat stands out is a kid with real strengths, like friends, humor and strong interests, who still has to work harder than other kids to manage noise, transitions, time and getting started.

Section 3

Understanding your needs

What's on your mind and what you want help with. You describe it in your own words, and Dawn writes each next question based on your answers.

Written live by Dawn

7 questions · About 3 minutes

Your own words

What have you noticed about his sleep there so far?

Why Dawn is askingThis helps me sort out whether the bigger driver is sleep disruption, daytime dysregulation, or both.

"He's had trouble falling asleep in the heat, and counselors say he's up earlier than the other kids…"

Dawn's summaryThis doesn't look like "just homesickness." A hot, noisy sleepaway camp can push Maddox's nervous system outside its window of tolerance fast.
4

Section 4

Exploring root causes

A closer look at what may be contributing, so support goes after the cause instead of the surface. Dawn draws on everything you've shared so far, including your child's Sensory and Executive Function Profiles.

Written live by Dawn

5 questions · About 2 minutes

Your own words

When he gets overwhelmed at camp, what seems to bother his body most: the noise, the feel of clothes or bedding, being too hot, or something else?

Why Dawn is askingSensory overload can push a kid outside his window of tolerance, especially when he's already short on sleep.
Dawn's summaryThe pattern fits a regulation problem more than a behavior problem: trouble falling asleep in the heat, high sound sensitivity, and then tears once his window of tolerance gets too narrow.

Section 5

You as a parent & your environment

Your strengths, your stress, what helps you reset, and the space and people around your child. So guidance fits your real day-to-day, not just your child's.

12 questions · About 4 minutes

Multiple choice

During dysregulated moments, who is usually most dysregulated?

My childMe✓ Both of usIt varies
Dawn's summaryThat gives us something solid to work with, especially around sleep and emotional regulation. We can start making sense of what his body and emotions are telling us.

Questions are from the Kinspire consultation. Maddox, 12, is an example child; answers and summaries are illustrative.

How you answer

Quick to answer. Room to say more.

Most questions take a tap. When the details matter, you tell us in your own words.

•

We always tell you why

Section 2B · Executive function · 1 of 12Multiple choice

After Maddox gets upset, how long does it usually take him to come back to calm?

Every child is different. Some bounce back in minutes, others need much longer or need an adult close by.

Try it: tap the answers. Questions are from the consultation.

FAQ

Questions about the consultation

Who wrote the questions?

The consultation was developed by Kinspire's clinical leadership: Lily Baiser, MS, OTR/L, Co-Founder and Chief Clinical Officer, and Jill Gitten Aloia, PhD, ABPP-CN, Chief Neuropsychologist. In Sections 3 and 4, Dawn writes follow-up questions about your specific challenge, guided by their clinical approach, Precision Parenting™.

How long does it take?

About 30 minutes. Most families finish in 30 minutes or less, and you can stop anytime and pick up where you left off.

Are the questions the same for every child?

No. Questions are customized to your child's age, and the questions about your current challenge are written by Dawn based on your answers.

Do I need a diagnosis?

No. The consultation works whether your child has a diagnosis, a suspected diagnosis, or you just know your child is wired differently.

Is this a medical evaluation?

No. The Clinical Consultation helps Kinspire understand your family so it can make support for you. It doesn't diagnose or treat, and it isn't a replacement for care from a licensed professional.

What happens to my answers?

Your answers build your Family Profile, which powers everything Dawn makes for you. Your information is encrypted, built to HIPAA privacy standards, never sold, and never used to train public AI. You can ask us to delete it anytime at privacy@kinspireapp.com.
