Strategies

A plan for the hardest moment, built from scratch for your child.

Every strategy is generated by Dawn from your Family Profile, for one child and one challenge. Clear steps, words to say, and the clinical reasoning behind it, so you know what to do and why it works.

And every one gets better as you go. Tell Dawn how it went and she sharpens it until it's a winner.

How every strategy is built

Everything you need, right where you need it

Every strategy follows the same structure, so you always know where to look: the quick plan up front, the step-by-step when you're ready to try it, and the why behind it when you want to go deeper.

Overview

Use a short, body-based calming routine in the car so Liv can borrow your calm before the handoff.

Description

This strategy focuses on the nervous system first. Liv is starting to cry before she even leaves the car, which tells us her body is already flooded. Instead of pushing for a quick exit, you slow the moment down for 30 to 90 seconds and help her body settle with you. You are not waiting for perfect calm. You are creating enough regulation for the next step to be possible. This is especially useful when she needs fewer words and more comfort from you.

The short version

  1. Park and pause
  2. Do one reset
  3. Offer the handoff
  4. Exit the car
  5. Discuss with Dawn

Her dad does drop-off on Thursdays and the aide isn't there yet when they arrive. Can we change step 3?

Yes. On Thursdays, let's swap the aide cue for a goodbye ritual at the classroom door: one squeeze, one phrase, then Dad steps back. I've updated step 3 with a Thursday version.

Make it a winner

Try it. Tweak it. Make it work for your family.

Parenting isn't one-size-fits-all. Your strategies shouldn't be either. Tell Dawn what worked, what didn't, or what changed. She uses your feedback to refine your strategies and deepen her understanding of your family.

Your best strategies, all in one place.

  • Data over drama

When something doesn't work, you learn. Every outcome sharpens what Dawn recommends next.

  • Nothing is locked in

Change it, replace it, or build on it. Strategies move with your child.

  • Every try counts

Even a “this was a disaster” helps Dawn understand your child better.

FAQ

Questions about strategies

Where do strategies come from?

Dawn generates each one from scratch using your Family Profile and the challenge you're working on, guided by Precision Parenting™, the clinical approach built by our occupational therapy and neuropsychology leadership. They aren't pulled from a library or a template.

How many strategies do I get?

Each support topic comes with its own set of strategies. Kinspire Starter includes your first topic. Kinspire Unlimited includes unlimited topics.

What if a strategy doesn't work?

Tell Dawn. She can change a step, replace the strategy with a new one, or explain what to try next. Every outcome helps her understand your child better.

Can I change a strategy myself?

Yes. Tap "Discuss with Dawn" on any strategy to modify it, replace it, ask a question about it, or tell her how it went.

Can I share a strategy with my child's teacher?

Yes. Send it by text or email, or print it as a PDF.

Are strategies a form of therapy?

No. Strategies are parent coaching and education. They don't diagnose or treat, and they aren't a replacement for care from a licensed professional.
