About this session

You've watched your child cover their ears at a birthday party. Refuse a certain texture at dinner. Crash into the couch after school. Spin until they're dizzy, then ask for more. That's sensory processing, and you've been watching it happen all along. This workshop gives you the language and the science to understand what you've been seeing.

In this session, Lily Baiser, MS, OTR/L and Jill Gitten Aloia, PhD, ABPP-CN walk you through the framework behind our whole Sensory Systems series: Jean Ayres' Sensory Integration Theory. You'll learn how your child's nervous system takes in, sorts and responds to the world around them. You'll also meet the three "hidden" senses (vestibular, proprioception and interoception). They matter most for regulation, and they're the ones people talk about least.

What we'll cover:

After the talk, we'll open the floor to a live parent Q&A. Bring your questions, your real-life scenarios and your "wait, is that sensory?" moments.

It's built to give parents real knowledge, not just tips, so you can understand what's happening in your child's body and respond with confidence. You're not trying to fix your child. You're learning to understand their nervous system.

I'm a licensed pediatric occupational therapist, co-founder, and Chief Clinical Officer of Kinspire, and for nearly two decades, I've been driven by one question: why is it still so hard for families to get support that actually works? View full profile

Jill Aloia

PhD, ABPP-CN

I'm a licensed, board-certified clinical neuropsychologist with 25 years of experience, but honestly, supporting outside-the-box children has never felt like "work" to me. As a pediatric neuropsychologist, I've focused on children with neurodevelopmental differences, including ADHD, since graduate school. My research interest in neurodevelopmental differences carried me through a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Brown University. View full profile
