About this session
Parenting a PDA kid means the rulebook gets thrown out. "Just ask nicely," "be consistent," "hold the boundary" — the advice that works for other families can make things worse for yours, because for a PDA nervous system, a demand doesn't feel like a request. It feels like a threat. That leaves a lot of parents second-guessing themselves, isolated from other parenting circles, and quietly wondering if they're doing everything wrong.
This support group, led by Lily Baiser, MS, OTR/L and Jill Gitten Aloia, PhD, ABPP-CN, is a space for parents to be honest about what PDA actually looks like day to day — the shutdowns, the negotiating, the exhaustion of constantly recalibrating your own language. Share what's happening in your house, hear from other parents living the same reality, and get clinical insight into why autonomy-first approaches work when compliance-first ones don't.
You're not failing at parenting. You're parenting a nervous system that needs a different approach — and you don't have to figure it out alone.

I'm a licensed, board-certified clinical neuropsychologist with 25 years of experience, but honestly, supporting outside-the-box children has never felt like "work" to me. As a pediatric neuropsychologist, I've focused on children with neurodevelopmental differences, including ADHD, since graduate school. My research interest in neurodevelopmental differences carried me through a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Brown University. View full profile

I'm a licensed pediatric occupational therapist, co-founder, and Chief Clinical Officer of Kinspire, and for nearly two decades, I've been driven by one question: why is it still so hard for families to get support that actually works? View full profile
