About this session
Halloween is a lot. Itchy costumes and masks. Doorbells, dark streets and strangers in scary outfits. Crowds, flashing lights and a routine thrown completely off. Then there's a bag full of candy at the end. For outside-the-box kids, a night most families call fun can be a full-body sensory overload. For parents, it can feel like planning for a storm.
In this workshop, Lily Baiser, MS, OTR/L and Jill Gitten Aloia, PhD, ABPP-CN help you plan a Halloween that fits your child, not just the tradition. Lily covers the sensory side: costumes your child can tolerate, how to handle noise, crowds and lighting, and how to build in regulation breaks. Dr. Jill covers the brain side: preparing your child for what's coming, handling surprises and transitions, and keeping expectations realistic for the whole family.
What we'll cover:
After the talk, we'll open the floor to a live parent Q&A. Bring your costume dilemmas, the Halloween moments that went sideways in past years and your questions.
There's no "right" way to do Halloween. The best one is the one your child can enjoy, and this session will help you plan it.

I'm a licensed, board-certified clinical neuropsychologist with 25 years of experience, but honestly, supporting outside-the-box children has never felt like "work" to me. As a pediatric neuropsychologist, I've focused on children with neurodevelopmental differences, including ADHD, since graduate school. My research interest in neurodevelopmental differences carried me through a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Brown University. View full profile

I'm a licensed pediatric occupational therapist, co-founder, and Chief Clinical Officer of Kinspire, and for nearly two decades, I've been driven by one question: why is it still so hard for families to get support that actually works? View full profile
